  • Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy

We rely on the strength of relationships to survive. We are born vulnerable and in need of physical and emotional nurturing. Naturally, we reach out for connection, but what happens when the ones we reach out for don't have the ability to reach back. . We reach for horses because horses reach back. Horses not only attach to their herd but to people as well, and when they attach, they have the ability to heal and be the secure base we need. Studies are beginning to explain the bidirectional "healing" that happens when we are near horses. Using the power of the herd, Brittani blends the horses into the different therapy modalities she specializes in. Using EquiLateral or Equine-Assisted EMDR Protocol which incorporates the herd and horse interactions within the eight-phased, three-pronged, standard EMDR protocol.

These interactions can also be used in DBR sessions, which deepens this experience. Partnering with horses can create a space for gentle processing to occur while feeling the support of the herd.

  • EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidenced based psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. Unlike other treatments that focus on directly altering the emotions, thoughts and responses resulting from traumatic experiences, EMDR therapy focuses directly on the memory, and is intended to change the way that the memory is stored in the brain, thus reducing and eliminating the problematic symptoms.
